Social Studies

Social Studies

Social Studies is an important disciplinary area of study for children as it helps them start to understand how they might contribute to the world in a positive way.  They learn further about their relationships with other people, how they are alike, how they are different, and about methods of communication.

We integrate this with minor subjects like Filipino into the kindergarten (k2), grade 1, and grade 2. All grades have daily social interaction routines highlighted into their agenda.

Below is how BJAEC teaches social studies and its related areas to each grade level

Social Interaction Curriculum

Preschool

  • Self Control – We Use inductive disciplinary methods whereas we emphasize explaining the reasons for rules and the consequences of bad behavior.
  • Verbal Communication – We help children understand their emotions and how to properly express themselves. We create a positive environment in which they can feel comfortable social interacting with those around them.
  • Empathy – Studies show that a good secure attachment can liberate children into exploring the world around them more. We make sure that our students know they can rely on us as teachers and help them in understanding how to ask questions, interact with others; which in turns leads good relationship skills throughout life.
